Boris Johnson has been elected as the new Prime Minister, beating Jeremy Hunt in a Conservative Party vote.

He told the audience it is an ‘extraordinary honour and privilege’ to be elected, taking over the role from Theresa May.

And Piers Morgan, Rylan Clark-Neal and Stormzy were among those flocking to Twitter to make their feelings known about the our new PM.

Nigella Lawson let her emojis do the talking, simply posting the emoticon of a woman with her hand over her face, to her 2.6million followers.

While Rylan took the opportunity to start his own race to be leader, telling fans: ‘If there’s a general election I’m running.’

We would totally vote for him, to be honest.

‘Carpe diem and please don’t f*ck it up.’

And Stormzy retweeted a clip from his music video for Vossi Bop, in which he swore in front of a string of Boris lookalikes.

‘I despair. The only good thing I can say is it looks like he combed his hair. People are so sick of it all.’

‘I’m quite embarrassed, really. I would rather Doris in no. 10 than Boris. I feel like the cat is even packing its bag and moving out, and it’s been there years.’

Boris is taking over as Prime Minister tomorrow, after Theresa May’s final PMQs in the House of Commons.

In his winning speech, he insisted his main priority is to deliver Brexit, and defeat Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.

‘I think you know that we can do it [Brexit] and that the people in this country have trust in us to do it and we know that will do it,’ he said.

Johnson then vowed, as he has throughout the election campaign, to ‘deliver Brexit, unite the country and defeat Jeremy Corbyn.

‘That’s what we’re going to do. We will defeat Jeremy Corbyn.’
