Nigella has apologised to Victoria Coren Mitchell over Twitter, after her new show inadvertently caused Only Connect to be moved around in the TV schedules.
Nigella: Cook, Eat, Repeat arrives on BBC Two next Monday at 8pm, which means Only Connect is being moved half an hour earlier than usual to 7.30pm.
Victoria tweeted to let fans of the show know about the move, saying that she didn’t know why BBC bosses were ‘messing around’ with the times – something Nigella quickly cleared up.
Victoria wrote: ‘Next week, for reasons best known to itself, [BBC Two] moves Only Connect to 7.30pm. NO, I DON’T KNOW WHY THEY MESS AROUND WITH IT EITHER.’
The presenter added: ‘So if you like things to happen as normal… well, 2020 is a living nightmare. But at least Only Connect is on at 8 o’clock tonight!’
It wasn’t long before Nigella chipped in to apologise for the change-up, saying: ‘I’m afraid it may be my fault.’
Victoria, thankfully, took the news incredibly well.
‘It’s absolutely not your fault!’ she wrote. ‘I just got the new book and it looks amazing, and perfectly timed for being at home cooking. There is a problem but it absolutely isn’t the arrival of your exciting new series!.’
Nigella is back on the box next week, sharing a selection of favourite recipes and the stories behind them on the new show, just in time for the run up to Christmas.
It’s a welcome return from the celebrity chef, who recently got into a spot of trouble after mistakingly licking her fingers during an appearance on BBC One’s Saturday Kitchen before serving a cake to others.
Only Connect is one of the toughest quizzes on TV, following two teams of contestants finding connections within a series of seemingly unrelated clues.
First arriving in 2008, it moved to BBC Two in 2014 after developing a cult following on original channel BBC Four.
Only Connect airs on Monday nights on BBC Two.
