TV chef Nigella Lawson has taken inspiration from her time living in Italy for her new cookery series Nigellissima, which begins on BBC2 on Monday night.
The show takes Nigella back to the hotel in Florence where she worked as a chambermaid when she was a student – and honed her love of both the country and its food.
And viewers can expect her to dish up a feast of Mediterranean delights, including, in the first show, Sicilian pasta, Tagliata – thinly sliced steak – with Tuscan fries and ‘eggs in purgatory’ – a dish which she claims is ideal for late night parties.
