TV cookery queen Delia Smith’s new book is hitting the shelves today.
And retailers predict she could out-sell current small screen food darlings Nigella Lawson and Jamie Oliver.
Called How To Cheat At Cooking, the book is Delia’s first new publication in four years.
Asda has quadrupled its stock of products featured in the book in anticipation of a sales surge.
A spokesman for the chain said: “Delia’s accessible and realistic approach is a recipe for success. So much so we are confident that it will put Jamie Oliver sales on the backburner.”
Amazon.co.uk said Delia’s latest offering had been top of its best-sellers chart all this week based on pre-orders alone.
Amy Worth, books manager for the online retailer, said: “Most interestingly, Delia’s How To Cheat At Cooking has achieved higher pre-order sales on Amazon.co.uk than either Nigella Express or Jamie At Home.
