Celebrity chefs including Gordon Ramsay, Rick Stein and Nigella Lawson were criticised today for serving up dishes high in saturated fat.
A report by The Fat Panel – made up of dietary experts – found many cookbooks encouraged unhealthy eating.
The study analysed the saturated fat content of various dishes and discovered that many celebrity chefs’ recipes contained more than 100% of the recommended amount of saturated fat – 30g for men and 20g for women – in a single serving.
Antony Worrall Thompson was found to be “ambivalent” to the issue, while John Burton Race and Rick Stein were said to be “keen to use high saturated fat ingredients constantly”.
