You wait ages for a #wakeupcall selfie… and then two come along at once (Picture: Jeremy Clarkson/PA Wire)

If you thought you’d seen the last of social trends for a while, then think again.

We’ve had the #nomakeupselfie and of course the #icebucketchallenge – now it’s time for the #wakeupcall.

As the name suggests, the idea is to take a photo of yourself first thing in the morning (no sneaky grooming, now) upload it to your social media account of choice and then nominate three more people to take the challenge. Simple.

Launched by Jemima Khan to raise money for Unicef’s Syria Emergency appeal, the trend has already picked up support from Twitter maestro Stephen Fry, Strictly’s Claudia Winkleman and the illustrious Derren Brown…

Oh, and did we mention Jeremy Clarkson joined in with a 2-for-1 deal with Heston Blumenthal?

MORE: Celebrities jump on board the #wakeupcall trend

Stephen Fry is as modest as ever:

There’s something different about Hugh Grant…

Derren… is that you?

Nigella’s feeling shy:

So Keeley Hawes really IS that pretty without make up?

Tom Hiddleston did it – can someone nominate Benedict Cumberbatch please?

Daisy Lowe manages to look as cool in bed as she does out of it:

Naomi Campbell looks flawless (this woman is 44!)

Nigella Lawson

One of Nigella Lawson’s Dutch ancestors arrived in Britain on the run from jail, she admitted.

The celebrity chef was researching her family tree for the BBC1 series Who Do You Think You Are? when she discovered that convicted thief Coenraad Sammes escaped from prison in Amsterdam in 1930.

She said she remained proud of her family, which on her mother’s side founded food giant Lyons. Lawson, 46, added: ‘You make your own life. How you start off is Nigella Lawson not how you need to end up.’

Nigella Lawson’s influence is spreading from the kitchen to other parts of the home, it seems.

The TV chef is being credited with a resurgence in demand for dining rooms among housebuyers who want to host Nigella-style dinner parties.

About half of househunters now want a room for a big table separate from the kitchen and away from the TV, according to homefinding website BDI Property Search.

If you’re a girl who got on well with your father, your future partner with your father, your future partner will look like him.

Equally, a bad relationship with your dad means you won’t be attracted to men who resemble him, it is claimed.

Those are the findings of a study of the facial characteristics of partners and fathers of a group of women.

Researchers cited Nigella Lawson and Zoe Ball as evidence.

Lawson’s partner Charles Saatchi was said to have a strong resemblance to her father Nigel, the ex-politician.

Ball’s husband Norman ‘Fatboy Slim’ Cook looks very similar to her TV presenter father Johnny, it was claimed.

Noses, chins and eyes were said to be particularly similar.

Psychologist Dr Lynda Boothroyd, from Durham University, helped carry out the research involving 49 Polish women.

Each chose the most attractive face from 15 on view. These were compared with their father’s features.

Nigella always has her mustard to hand

Nigella Lawson has confessed to a love of takeaways and greasy spoons – and revealed she travels everywhere with a tube of Colman’s mustard in her handbag.

In an interview with the Radio Times the Domestic Goddess admitted: “I need to take food with me everywhere. The notion of being in a place without it frightens me. I often have a packet of Twiglets in my bag, and always a tube of Colman’s mustard,” she said.

“Until last year I travelled abroad with a kettle – I didn’t like to ring room service for just a cup of tea – but now I realise I can ask them to put a kettle and milk in the room.”

Her new BBC Two show Nigella Express will show how to cook meals in minutes.

Nigella Lawson’s recipes are harder to follow than Jamie Oliver’s, experts say.

Literacry experts looked at how easy it was to follow celebrity chef’s cookery books.

They found the chatty writing style of Nigella Lawson and Delia Smith makes their recipes harder to understand than books by male celebrity chefs like Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsay.

Nigel Slater’s recipes are written in the easiest language, a study by the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills’ Get On campaign found.

The literacy experts analysed five of Slater’s recipes and all had a “readability” of entry level three or below. This level is broadly equivalent to the standard of English expected in an 11-year-old.

By contrast, analysis of Delia and Nigella’s recipes show some of them use language broadly equivalent to level one English – roughly the standard of a GCSE.

Nigella LawsonNigella wears her ‘sexy’ tin foil bra.

Nigella Lawson has turned up the heat in a racy photoshoot and spoke about her taste for football players.

The voluptuous TV cook posed in a dress made of silver foil for a men’s magazine and in the accompanying interview told how she once went to bed in nothing but stockings and high heels.

Lawson, wife of multi-millionaire art collector Charles Saatchi and currently appearing in BBC2 series Nigella Express, said recently she hoped to move away from her ‘blow-up sex doll’ image.

But in this interview she declared: ‘Stockings never fail to make you feel sexy. I like hold-ups but I often wear over-the-knee French schoolgirl socks.’

The most unusual revelation is related to Lawson’s love of Chelsea FC.

She said: ‘I love the English boys in the team – they’re the backbone of the side. ‘I only have to hear John Terry… Read the full story

Delia Smith’s new book is now on sale

TV cookery queen Delia Smith’s new book is hitting the shelves today.

And retailers predict she could out-sell current small screen food darlings Nigella Lawson and Jamie Oliver.

Called How To Cheat At Cooking, the book is Delia’s first new publication in four years.

Asda has quadrupled its stock of products featured in the book in anticipation of a sales surge.

A spokesman for the chain said: “Delia’s accessible and realistic approach is a recipe for success. So much so we are confident that it will put Jamie Oliver sales on the backburner.”

Amazon.co.uk said Delia’s latest offering had been top of its best-sellers chart all this week based on pre-orders alone.

Amy Worth, books manager for the online retailer, said: “Most interestingly, Delia’s How To Cheat At Cooking has achieved higher pre-order sales on Amazon.co.uk than either Nigella Express or Jamie At Home.

The study analysed the saturated fat content of various dishes and discovered that many celebrity chefs’ recipes contained more than 100% of the recommended amount of saturated fat – 30g for men and 20g for women – in a single serving.

Antony Worrall Thompson was found to be “ambivalent” to the issue, while John Burton Race and Rick Stein were said to be “keen to use high saturated fat ingredients constantly”.
