TV review: It’s lucky the recipes in Nigella Lawson’s new series looked delicious and simple because the pretence that she loves to knock up a roast seafood dinner immediately after work was a little harder to stomach.

Nigella Kitchen: Nigella strikes a pose with her peanut butter cheesecake (BBC)

The first episode of the domestic goddess’ new series saw her preparing salami pasta and a peanut butter cheesecake, among other dishes, but it’s best to check the website for the recipes – you may have missed them while Nigella was purring seductively for the umpteenth time.

There was a hint of a Dead Ringers sketch about the whole thing as smooth jazz tinkled away in the background and the curvaceous cook told us ‘I need to… Read the full story

Curves like those showcased by the bootylicious Beyoncé, kitchen queen Nigella Lawson and
‘ultimate celebrity bum’ owner Jennifer Lopez could be a sign a lady will live longer than her skinny mates, according to researchers.

Previous studies have indicated that fat around the stomach area heightens the risk of heart disease, strokes and diabetes, while weight around the thighs and bottom appears to cut the risk.

For the latest research, volunteers were persuaded to gorge themselves on ice cream and sweets over a period of eight weeks, with their body fat and fat-cell size measured before and after the regime.

Scientists concluded that fat cells around the stomach and heart had grown in size but not in number, while the reverse was true for… Read the full story

Nigella continued on her crusade to sneak as much naughtiness as possible onto pre-watershed BBC2.

There hardly seems any point in passing comment or judgement on Nigella’s penchant for salacious sound-bites and coquettish body language, so I’ll glide quickly over her mention of ‘sweet juices’ and ‘gleaming cream’, and even her admission that, ‘I like to get my hands dirty,’ in this latest episode.

But one segment of the programme was surprising, even by her usual standards. After she cooked an Oriental fusion meal, she invited a young Asian man into her kitchen to share it with her, without introducing him to her… Read the full story

It was probably just a coincidence, but the ‘cost-cutting’ episode of Nigella Kitchen seemed appropriate and reassuring in the light of this week’s spending cuts announcements.

The message was this: even Nigella feels the pinch and she’s here to show us how to prepare great food at a low cost.

So, the domestic goddess took ingredients apparently lying around her kitchen and made fabulous meals without having to go to the shops.

It sort of worked: the meals were indeed fabulous and I’m sure she did find her ingredients lying around, but only because she’d been down to… Read the full story

And viewers can expect her to dish up a feast of Mediterranean delights, including, in the first show, Sicilian pasta, Tagliata – thinly sliced steak – with Tuscan fries and ‘eggs in purgatory’ – a dish which she claims is ideal for late night parties.

Nigella also gets to work on a delectable chocolate and… Read the full story

Their liberal dollops of cream and endless squirts of truffle oil may get the tastebuds tingling.

But while celebrity chefs are inspiring people to shun TV dinners and get back in the kitchen, they’re also accused of adding to the obesity crisis by encouraging us to eat fatty dishes.

Nearly 90 per cent of 900 recipes by 26 TV cooks failed to comply with healthy eating guidelines, a study claims.

Many contained ‘undesirable levels’ of saturated fat, including one found to have five times the daily recommended amount. It is a worry because people tend to assume that recipes made by star names are good for them, said Dr Ricardo Costa of Coventry university.

Domestic upheaval: Nigella Lawson leaves her Chelsea flat and dives into a taxi 90 minutes after husband Charles Saatchi left looking stony-faced

TV cook Nigella Lawson appeared to move out of her home after photos seemed to show her multi-millionaire husband grabbing her around the throat.

The self-styled domestic goddess was seen clutching a suitcase as she left the £12million Chelsea flat she shares with advertising tycoon Charles Saatchi.

She was then driven away in a blue taxi alongside her son Bruno, 17.

The 53-year-old and her husband were saying nothing about the incident but police confirmed they were looking into it.

Charles Saatchi has dismissed as a ‘playful tiff’ photographs that appear to show him seizing his wife Nigella Lawson by the throat.

In photographs the celebrity cook appears to be grimacing and was reportedly seen weeping following the incident.

The pictures, taken outside Scott’s restaurant in Mayfair in central London, emerged yesterday and Lawson appeared to move out of their home in Chelsea, west London.

Police are still deciding whether to begin an investigation into the reports.

But Saatchi told the Evening Standard: ‘There was no grip, it was a playful tiff. The pictures… Read the full story

Charles Saatchi has today insisted it was a ‘playful tiff’, but the question remains why did no one step in to stop him grabbing his wife Nigella Lawson by the throat at a busy London restaurant.

The advertising magnate has insisted the pictures looked ‘far more drastic and violent’ than reality but still surely the none-the-wiser diners and passers-by in that moment would not be aware of his detailed reasoning.

The alleged altercation took place in the middle of the day in one of Mayfair’s most exclusive restaurants with sources stating that Nigella was ‘upset’ and with ‘a real look of fear’… Read the full story

Nigella is bringing cookery back to the screen – but will she be bringing sexy back too? (Picture: Getty Images)

Nigella Lawson is set to return to TV screens for her first new BBC show since 2012 – but this time she’s taking a very different approach to her kitchen antics.

Simply Nigella, which is due to air on BBC Two later this year, will do away with the indulgent meals cooked up by Lawson in previous shows, in favour of something altogether simpler.

Or as she put it the show, which also coincides with her new recipe book, will aim ‘to find a true sense of balance between lightness and lushness’.

So does that mean no more long, lingering shots of Lawson tucking in to her… Read the full story

Nigella Lawson will be reading the UK’s scores at Eurovision 2015.

Part of the fun of Eurovision is seeing which famous British face will pop up during the voting process to hand out those all-important 12 points.

DJs Scott Mills and Fearne Cotton have done it. Duncan James from Blue has done it. So have Alex Jones, Cheryl Baker and Lorrain Kelly.

And this year it will be telly cook Nigella Lawson’s turn to be spokesperson.

Nigella confirmed the news herself on Twitter (in three different languages) when asked by a follower.

She tweeted: ‘Yes, it’s true. Oui, c’est vrai. Ja, das ist wahr.’

Ok, so we may have done terribly at Eurovision once again, but wasn’t Nigella Lawson fab?

While poor Electro Velvet only managed five points, everyone at home still seemed to be pleased as punch thanks to the TV chef’s multilingual delivery of the points from the UK.

Who knew she could speak so many languages?

She even received praise from Scott Mills, who Nigella was brought in to replace as the DJ was too busy to take part this year.

‘Nigella was AMAZING,’ he tweeted.

The 55-year-old, who is a big Eurovision fan, had previously said she’d spent most of the day preparing for her big moment.
